This article explains how to comment on an Instagram post with a GIF. You can use this feature in the Instagram mobile app on Android and iPhone, but not when using Instagram on the web . As of this writing, you cannot reply to a comment with a GIF; the feature only applies to new comments.

How to Comment With a GIF on Instagram

What says, “Congratulations,” “Way to go,” or “Good job” better than a moving picture. Whether cute, funny, or sentimental, you can comment on an Instagram post with a GIF in just a few taps.

1. Select the post where you want to leave a comment and tap theComment icon.
2. Select theGIF icon on the right side of the Comment field.
   If you see aSticker icon instead, select it and then tap theGIF icon on the bottom right.
   
3. Choose from one of the featured GIFs or use the Search box at the top to find one from GIPHY using a keyword or phrase.
4. Tap the GIF you want to insert, and you’ll see your GIF comment appear on the post immediately.
   

Note

You can’t currently add a GIF saved on your mobile device; you must choose one from the GIPHY options in Instagram’s gallery .

How to Delete an Instagram GIF Comment

If you add an Instagram GIF comment in error or simply decide to remove it later, you can quickly delete it. Plus, this is one GIF comment feature that works on the Instagram website along with the mobile app.

Delete a Comment in the Instagram Mobile App

You can delete a GIF comment in the Instagram mobile app just as easily as adding one.

1. Select the post in theInstagram app on your mobile device.
2. Use theComment icon on the post to locate your GIF comment.
3. Either tap and hold the GIF or swipe the comment from right to left and tap theDelete icon (trash can).
   You’ll notice a brief message appear in red at the top allowing you to tap if you want to undo the deletion.

You’ll then see your GIF comment removed from the Instagram post .

Delete a GIF Comment on the Instagram Website

Although you can’t add a GIF comment to a post in Instagram on the web, you can delete one.

1. Sign in on the Instagram website and open the post with your comment.
2. Hover your cursor over the GIF to display thethree dots beneath it, and then select those dots.

3. ChooseDelete in the pop-up window.

4. Instagram will remove the comment.
